The poor inhabitants around the Chalan Beel (Lake) area in the north of Bangladesh seek alternative livelihoods during the lean season. The researcher as a student of Anthropology Department, Rajshahi University, will evaluate the crisis coping strategies adopted by them. The objective of this study was to analyse the survival strategy of the poverty groups in the region and to see whether these can be replicated or adapted in other places. Another objective of this project was to assist this young researcher, under the guidance of a professor, to build his capacity in participatory action research (PAR).
