The researcher have assessed the problems faced by the folk theatre artists through a participatory method and explored the ways and means of enhancing their popularity in society, along with their status and income, as part of their poverty alleviation process. Most of the folk theatre artists perceived that their poverty might be reduced if the process of permissions from the concerned authorities for organising folk theatres is relaxed. They (artists) also told that the folk theatres would regain its lost heritage if its presentation were made free from nuisance dances, gambling etc.
