A Culturally and Economically Poverty Free Model Village.

Researcher: Mr. Raju Ahmed

The development of a model village through participatory action research (PAR) is designed to induce active participation of the villagers and to stimulate in them mutual trust, love, sense of cooperation, and collective effort to solve their problems and achieve their goals. The basic objective of this research is to animate the spirit of self-reliance among people and to awaken in them the inherent self-power and self-potential, which are to be directed towards achieving material and cultural self-reliance. The hypothesis is that people's realization of their ability, rather than external assistance, could be more effective in removing poverty and solving other problems. The researcher will conduct a series of workshops with different age groups of villagers where the participants will analyze their problems, hopes, aspirations, and needs to develop a strategy for building a self-reliant village. The villagers will make their own plans for fulfilling their aspirations through collective economic, social and cultural effort, leading to the development of a culturally and economically poverty-free model village.
