The Harijons are one of the marginal minority groups
who are definitely a missing poor community because
their needs are hardy addressed by any development programs.
The Harijons are discriminated as they belong to the
lowest category of the caste system of the Hindus of
the Indian subcontinent. The objectives of the study
is to investigate the socio-economic condition of the
'Harijons' with in-depth analyses of their levels of
deprivation and of the types and coverage of government
or non-government development initiatives, if any, to
develop their socio-economic condition. This study will
also collect information on available research activities
conducted on this marginal minority groups. This study
will help to find new ways of initiating more research
and areas of necessary program interventions to improve
the lives and livelihoods of this community.
