Bhashantek Slum as in the Memory of its Dwellers

The main objective of the research is to collect information/data from the slum dwellers to record the oral history of the slum population to understand and analyse their lives, livelihood and struggle for survival. This research will also find out how criminal and unlawful incidents are occurring in this slum. The study will also try to investigate the reason of eviction and what measures they take to cope with the effects of eviction. This research falls under the capacity building of young researchers of RIB. Three students of the history department from Dhaka University is undertaking this research under the guidance of a Professor of the same department. The duration of this research is eight month.

The expected outcome is to publish a report on slum dweller's life, which will let the policy makers know how and why this slum evolved and also the vivid pen picture of day to day horrific life living in a slum. The research methodology will be in-depth case study, interviews and focus group discussion.
