Riders to the Jungle

Researcher: Tanvir Mokammel

The researcher, a renowned film maker of the country is making a documentary film titled as Riders to the Jungle which is being funded partly by RIB. The story of this documentary film is based on an exceptional ritual that take place during November every year in the southern coastal point, Dublarchar of Sunderban. Men, women and children of the fishing communities mostly from the nearby districts come all the way by their country boats ignoring the dangers of the jungle to pray to the sea God for safekeeping fishermen who are go out to the sea for fishing. Another reason of this voyage is to train up the children to face the difficult situation of the nature. At the end of their journey, a fair takes place at Dublarchar. The sixty-minute duration film will also incorporate the miserable condition of Sunderban. The film expected to sensitise the relevant authorities of the Government and NGOs who may come to improve the livelihoods of poor fishing communities. The documentary film Riders to the Jungle will also discover and present nature and human lives of Sunderban.
