Researcher : Moni Haider
About 10,000 workers, child, young and old are engaged
in binding books in Bangladesh. They are the background
workers of the printing industry, mostly low-paid. Nothing
has so far been written or no study has been undertaken
highlighting the lives and profession of these workers.
The preseant study aimed to (i) identify the socio-economic
conditions of the bookbinding workers; (ii) evaluate
their economic conditions; and (iii) formulate a plan
for alleviating their poverty and to establish them
as an organised force.
