Upgrading the Primary Designs of Traditional Cloths of the Chakma Community as well as Improving the Economic Conditions of the Women Involved in Making Cloths: A Pre-research

In the district of Chittagong Hill Tracts i.e. in Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachari are the homeland of the 13 indigenous groups of whom the Chakmas are well ahead of all the other groups with respect to population size, education, cloths they use etc. Traditionally, the Chakma women are engaged in making their local traditional garments making. The specific objectives of the study are to (i) assess the training needs of the women engaged in making traditional cloths and garments and motivating them to organise themselves; and (ii) preparing plan for institutionalisation of local cottage-based weaving and garments industry.
