Participatory Action Research Programme on selected Poverty Stricken Areas

The overall objective of the project is to undertake a field level survey for updating the data through the use of selected indicators that have a close relationship with the objectives. This is a follow-up of previously conducted poverty mapping study-involving participation of the poor and the disadvantaged. The methodology to be adopted will be a three-stage multiple sampling. One Upazila will be selected from each of the four districts based on information to be collected through (i) newspaper/other media; (ii) district administration; and (iii) NGOs. Poverty related indicators will be : access to (i) employment; (ii) assets/land; (iii) credit; (iv) balanced diet; (v) health and sanitation facilities; (vi) formal and non-formal education; and (vii) access to communal facilities.
