Increasing the Awareness Level of the Marginalized Communities Through Preparing Bangla Version of the Land Laws

Researcher : Nazrul Islam Khan

Overall purpose of the project is to improve the level of awareness of the poor and marginalized communities about land rights. Specific objectives of the project is to prepare an easy Bangla version of the land related laws in a book form for the poor and marginalized communities and all easy Bangla lessons of land laws will be considered as 'Land Codes'. This is a follow-up project of an earlier completed project "Land Laws, Rights and Alternative Dispute Resolution". The participants of the national level seminar organised for disseminating the findings of the above study strongly recommended to prepare a easy Bangla version of the essential land related laws which will also be used as 'Land Codes'. Results of the above study revealed that the people of poor and marginalized communities are not well aware about the land related laws and regarded as one of the major causes of landlessness by the vested groups. There are very few books on land related laws, which are not well understood by the ordinary readers/users and mostly used by the legal practitioners. Even the well-educated people perceived the land laws as very complicated. On these contexts it is important for the poor and marginalized as well as for the common people to develop an easy Bangla version of the land related laws for which the project deserve consideration for support.
