The objective of the study is to understand poverty
and the dignified and fulfilling life situation of people
in Bangladesh. The proposed study especially aims at
identifying the inner strength of life of the people
associated with poverty, as an outcome. It also intends
to develop an alternative approach to understand poverty
so that some alternative poverty alleviation strategies
can be developed. The first phase will constitute a
literature survey, which will take into account reviewing
notions of poverty as evident in our vernacular literature.
The second phase will constitute a field-work phase
in an area in Mymensingh district where the researchers
will interact with the villagers in many ways and observe
their views and perceptions.
